The Japanese car maker, Honda’s next big launch in India will come in the form of the Mobilio MPV. The 7 seater MPV is based on the capable platform of the popular Brio hatchback on which the Amaze compact sedan is also based. Honda revealed the Mobilio at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, where it charmed the audience with its great looks and smart and spacious interiors.

However, some of the audience couldn’t accept the Brio hatchback’s soft feminine frontal looks on this massive people mover and think that it really needs an aggressive front fascia. This is exactly what the Honda Prospect Motors Indonesia is supposed to do when it brings in the special RS edition of Mobilio.

The RS edition has been already spied on and the spy pictures reveal a very impressive new front fascia that suits the size and proportions of the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV). The Mobilio has been on offer for sale in Indonesia for few months now and the Mobilio RS is likely to be a special edition or a limited edition model, but it does really add some nice needed details.

The Mobilio’s RS edition looks very distinct with a lot of marked changes. The MPV gets a very muscular front fascia with bulging headlights with new reflectors and stylish new elements with projector lamps and blackened enclosures. Two new slated grills and added pilot lamps are also there. The frontal looks are also enhanced with a whole lot of chrome garnishes and thick chrome strips. The model’s large fog lamp enclosures occupy most of the height of the fender. The rear end of the vehicle get lot of changes including a new fancy spoiler, large horizontal slats on the rear bumper and of course a heavy dose of chrome garnish. The boot lid flashes the ‘RS’ logo to mark it apart from the regular mode.

As this is a special edition model, the RS model is not expected to come with any mechanical specification changes and with only cosmetic changes. The Mobilio is powered by only a 1.5 liter i-VTEC petrol engine in Indonesia, as it is a petrol centric market.

As for India, the Mobilio RS’ arrival is very unclear. However, the MPV will surely come in both petrol as well as diesel counterparts that will be powered by the 1.5 liter i-VTEC petrol and i-DTEC diesel engines respectively. Both these engines are currently found under the hood of the new City in India. Petrol engine churns out 119ps of power and 145Nm of torque, while the diesel mill produces 100ps of power and 200Nm of torque.

The upcoming Honda Mobilio thus, with its very spacious cabin, smart seating arrangements and great engine options is readying up to take the Indian MPV segment by storm. Thus RS edition or not, it is certain to be yet another massive success for Honda Cars India. However, it will be really nice to get the aggressive and muscular looking RS edition in India.
