Leading Japanese carmaker Honda has showcased an exciting range of new offerings at the Auto Expo 2014 which was held in Greater Noida. One of its several launches included the global showcasing of study model for an upcoming crossover, labeled as Honda Vision XS-1.
The Japanese car major outlined the firm’s plans for the auto show much in advance. During one of its statements, it had stated that it will be globally showcasing a new study model, called as Vision XS1. The company had added that the Vision XS-1 will be a creative model for a new crossover which will be featuring aggressive styling and unmatched utility space developed on distinctive packaging technologies of Honda. The creative Vision XS-1will be developed and refined into a compact SUV soon and its concept guise, it features single sliding doors on either of the sides. This concept SUV from Honda features a three-row seating arrangement and in its current avatar, is showcased as a seven seater car.
This new XS-1 concept from Honda is in resonance with the carmaker’s much popular ideology, man maximum machine minimum. Despite the fact that it is being developed as a compact SUV, it would be offering immense cabin space which is certainly quite impressive. For the compact SUV’s exterior design, Honda has deployed the H Concept design language which it has also used for the new generation Honda City’s design.
Earlier this year, it was reported that the Vezel SUV will not be launched in Indian market and that instead, Honda will be launching a new compact SUV for the car market in India. With the Vision XS-1 concept making a global debut at the Auto Expo 2014, analysts have get a good idea of how the yet to be launched model would appear to be like. The new Vezel from Honda recently was commercially made available in Japan and will be launched in US markets by next year. The Vezel will be arriving in European markets only by the year 2015. The new Vezel shares its platform with the new generation Jazz hatchback and is sold in Japan presently with two powertrain options. One is a 1.5 litre petrol engine and the other is a 1.5 litre hybrid powertrain. The Vezel is sold in both 4WD as well as 2WD layouts. For US markets, the car may also feature a turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol powertrain. Unveiled by Honda at the Auto Expo in Delhi, the Vezel is likely to be more assertive and sporty. Labeled as Vision XS-1 Concept, it is going to be a seven seater crossover that will feature sliding doors seen otherwise on minivans. The dynamic H design language has already been used by its designers for the new generation Fit, sold as Jazz in India. As yet, Honda has not provided any specific details regarding the powertrain for the new concept.
With the Vision XS-1, Honda wants to come up with a product that is compact and thus, well suited for the congested and narrow roads that we have here.
