Honda Cars India has recorded impressive profits in the past year, and has strategized its launches effectively. The launch of Amaze in 2013 April is the profit trigger, since then the company has recorded admirable month after month profits. Few months ago the company unveiled its fourth-gen City car, which is not just a progression of the current model, but an evolutionary piece, tailored with advanced design technologies like Exciting H design and Sleek Cross Motion. Honda Cars India has noted stunning profits in the past couple of months contributed by City and Amaze.

The company has another grand surprise in the pipeline, and this time it is not a sedan, but a magnificent MPV called Mobilio. Honda will launch the car in second quarter of current financial year, and the products that follow are new Jazz, scheduled to arrive by end of Financial Year 2014 to 2015. The upcoming Mobilio and new Jazz will move on same engine. Mobilio will have the same platform of Brio, and analysts are of the view that dependence on existing inventories might pose a risk, and Honda is still dependent on parent firm based in Japan to fund new car projects, because the Indian division has minimal resources to be self sufficient.

Now the hot topic of discussion would be Honda India’s launch vision for the future, Hironori Kanayama, the CEO and President of Honda Cars India said, ‘’the new launches after Mobilio and Jazz will be taken care of  by Honda India without assistant from Honda Japan. We have sought help till now, but aim to be self reliant in the near future, as the company is growing at a swift pace, and there would be no requirement to rely on parent firm. ‘’

On carrying out effectual business processes in terms of relying on minimal costs and increased localization, Kanayama said, ‘’ to build many more products than previous years, Honda had to depend on local stocks, and the company will increase local inventory output in the near future. The value of Yen was appreciating at swift pace, and import is hence not a reliable option.’’

As stated earlier Honda has been recording steep growth curves in the past year, and it was a challenge for the company, with regard to challenging the enormous vehicle demand, and also maintaining optimum customer satisfaction levels. Honda is keen to strengthen its dealership output in India by about 35% with 230 dealerships by end of 2014 to 2015 Financial Year. Kanayama is aware of the challenges that exist when there is swift movement of vehicles, and now the focus is concentrated around selling more cars than the quality aspect, and is thereby aiming to focus on quality and customer satisfaction.

Kanayama on his goal to focus on quality and customer satisfaction said, ‘’our priority is to become the top selling firm in India, by focussing on customer satisfaction and quality. By the rate at which the company is encountering massive growths; it is a challenge to maintain the required level of quality. ‘’

Honda Cars India has till now adopted self sufficient practices to push sales, and was not at all affected by constraint economy. The company is keen to formulate similar self dependent strategies to tide over the challenges of massive growth and focus on customer satisfaction and quality.
