Honda’s crossover SUV Mobilio which was announced to go under production and expected to be ready for delivery between June and September 2014 has been photographed under production. The car is being manufactured at Honda’s factory in Greater Noida and from photographs on internet it appears that models will be ready for ready for deliver on schedule for sale within India and also for exports. The photographs appearing on internet about Mobilio under production show the “V” variant which appears as a precursor to Honda’s Brio and Amaze models. Presently the models which are being used for pre-launch glimpses and other roadshows about “Mobilio” are these cars from pilot production.
This model of Honda was revealed at Auto Expo 2014 in Delhi and will be competing against the likes of Ford Ecosport, Renault Duster, SantaFe etc in compact SUV. The car will be available with diesel engine variants among which petrol fuel variant is available with manual and automatic transmission. The Honda Mobilio compact SUV’s diesel variant has 1.5 i-DTEC engine which can produce 100 PS of power along with efficient mileage of 25 kmpl while the petrol variant has 1.5 liter i-VTEC engine. Global premier of the Mobilio was made in 2013 at Indonesian Motor Show which has been developed in collaboration with its engineering teams in Japan and Thailand. The car’s exterior designing and interior features have been fitted in to compete with Toyota’s Avanza and Maruti’s Ertiga.
The Honda Mobilio in India will be priced within 5 -7 lakhs and will be presented with only one variant while in Indonesia it will be presented with three variants of S, E and E Prestige with latest audio safety and comfort features. Since its high end variants have electric power steering and accessory package with safety features like dual airbags for front passengers, ABS and EBD along with seat belts and brake assist. The Honda Mobilio’s 1.5 liter petrol engine will have power output of 119PS with 5 speed transmission system similar to Honda City while its diesel engine will similar output as Honda Amaze. When the Mobilio is launched in Indian markets it will meet strong competition from soon to be launched Datsun’s Go Plus MPV which is a product of Nissan Motors.
The Honda Mobilio has been designed with a wide bodied structure with black encircled tiny fog lamps below body colored bumper. Since it is based on platform of Brio it provides plenty of leg space allowing passengers to relax in air-conditioned comfort and enjoy music of 2Din audio system compatible with AUX/MP3 and Bluetooth. The front profile is attractive with chrome bar and Honda logo on honeycomb radiator grille which increases aesthetic appeal of this car when accentuated with headlamps clusters with project lights and side indicators on either side. In competition with features of existing and forthcoming mid range MPV’s in the market the Mobilio will also have in built navigational system with satellite connectivity and parking sensors to allow car to fit into crowded areas. For safety it will have conventional disc and drum brakes.
