Honda Cars India confirms Mobilio MPVs launch in July this year

It is a well-known fact to any auto enthusiasts that the miserable days of Honda Cars India are over, and it has been residing on cloud nine for quite some time now. Honda has finally understood how to present itself and its worthy cars to the Indians and has corrected its flaws of lacking diesel cars and exorbitantly price tags. The life saver for Honda has certainly been the Amaze compact sedan that launched in April last year with a first diesel variant from Honda India. It became a ground breaking success along with its competitive pricing. Honda went ahead with the launch of its new City also along with its diesel avatar. With amazing features, industry topping diesel mileage and competitive pricing the Honda City soon became the segment ruler by overthrowing the previous leader Hyundai Verna Fluidic.

As the highly priced Honda car are not working much in the price conscious Indian car market, Honda India is now planning to launch a yet new car in India in order to venture into a new segment. Thus, the Japanese car maker is going to launch the Mobilio MPV which will be Honda’s first MPV in India. The Mobilio is based on the Brio platform and is a comparatively low cost vehicle in order to rival the very popular Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Honda first unveiled the Mobilio as a concept model at the 2014 Auto Expo, where it generated a lot of excitement. The Mobilio MPV was launched in the Indonesian car market early this year, where it has already outsold the very popular Suzuki Ertiga MPV. Now, Honda Cars India has finally officially confirmed that the Mobilio MPV will be launched in the Indian domestic market in the month of July, this year.

The Honda Mobilio MPV will also be launched in both petrol as well as diesel model versions in India. Its diesel version is most likely to use the same engine that drives the new City. This fabulous engine many be considered to be slightly lacking in little lacking in great power, but it impresses everyone with its industry best incredible fuel efficiency. However, the Mobilio will be a large and even heavier vehicle than the City sedan and thus the diesel engine that drives the City and the Amaze very efficiently might not be a great choice for the Mobilio. Thus, it is speculated that Honda will be tweaking the powertrain in order to raise power figures in order to efficiently drive the Mobilio.

Honda will primarily pitch the Mobilio against the current compact MPV segment leader Maruti Ertiga since its launch in India. Honda is expected to price the Mobilio rightly in order to make it the third consecutive big success from the company. Though the Honda Mobilio is a superior car in terms of quality and styling to the Ertiga, it might not win the price war with Maruti, as the Mobilio will not be a sub-4 meter vehicle and will not enjoy excise benefits.
