The Honda Mobilio MPV is certainly one of the most awaited vehicles in India currently. The Mobilio which has been in the news ever since it was unveiled in India at the 2014 Auto Expo has been quite recently spied being rolled out at Honda’s car manufacturing facility. The new Mobilio will be Honda’s venture in the MPV market of India and will be a stern rival of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
Now, the Honda Mobilio has been spotted while testing on the Indian roads for the very first time by a car enthusiast. The spied vehicle was doing its test rounds in India in its diesel avatar. The Mobilio test model that was spotted by the spy shutterbug has been identified as a diesel variant, as it flaunted the ‘i-DTEC’ logo on its stylish rear side. The model trim of the spied Honda Mobilio has been also identified as ‘V’, which is one of the higher model trims of the upcoming new Mobilio.
The multi-purpose vehicle from the house of Honda has been spotted flaunting all the attributes of a premium car as per the standards of Honda. The spied Mobilio model was seen flashing its stylish fog lights, alloy wheels, and packed in the world class features such as rear wiper and a reverse camera that was placed above the registration plate area of the vehicle. The Indian spec Mobilio MPV seems to exactly same as that of its Indonesian counterpart.
The Honda Mobilio MPV has been speculated to be launched in the July-September period, but has been recently officially confirmed by the company to be in the month of July itself. As Honda’s diesel cars have been phenomenal successes in India, needless to say the Mobilio will also be launched in India in both its petrol and diesel counterparts, though it is offered in only its petrol guise in Indonesia. The Mobilio’s petrol variants are expected to be powered by the 1.5 liter 4-cylinder from under the new City’s hood that churns out 119 PS of power and 145 Nm of torque. The diesel Mobilio is going to be driven by the 1.5 liter i-DTEC diesel engine generating 100 PS of power and a peak torque of 200 Nm for both the new City and the Amaze. Both the petrol and diesel engines will be mated to a standard 5 speed manual transmission gearbox, while the petrol engine will also get the transmission option of a CVT automatic gearbox.
The Honda Mobilio is based on the popular Brio hatchback’s able and flexible platform. The new PMV is a people carrier with three-rows and is all set to challenge the Ertiga, while it is expected to be priced quite higher than the Ertiga, as it will not be a sub-4 meter vehicle. Expected to be priced lesser than the king of the large MPV segment Toyota Innova, the Honda Mobilio could also dampen the larger Innova’s market demand as well post its launch.
