The Indian auto market is a heaven for superb compact hatchbacks, and is constantly getting flooded with new arrivals. The 12th Edition of the 2014 Auto Expo showcased a whole lot of new hatchbacks for India, some of which have already launched in the market. Among some of the highly awaited hatchback models are the Honda Jazz and the Tata Bolt. While the Japanese car major Honda is preparing to launch the all new Jazz early next year, the Indian auto major Tata Motors will be introducing the new Bolt hatchback within this year’s festive season.
The Honda Jazz
Honda Cars India used to sell the very capable and globally popular Jazz hatchback in India, but phased it out last year due to low sales owing to its high pricing and lack of diesel counterpart. However, Honda is now all set to re-launch the Jazz in its all new avatar along with its diesel version. The new generation Jazz is set to be launched in India by the end of this current year.
Unveiled at the first 2014 Auto Expo, the new Jazz, for the first time, is being offered in both petrol and diesel guise. It is based on an entirely new platform on which the new City sedan is also based. The premium hatchback has grown in size and looks more alluring with a great new front fascia and a new bonnet with a bolder chrome front grille and attractive hawk eyed large headlights. The new hatchback is based on the company’s new global design philosophy of “EXCITING H” and offers more space than before.
The all new 2014 Honda Jazz will be coming with two engine options under its hood, namely the 1.2 liter i-VTEC petrol engine that drives the popular Brio hatchback and a 1.5 liter i-DTEC diesel motor that also runs the Amaze and the new city. The petrol engine has the capability to churn out a max power output of 87bhp, while the oil burner will have a max power of 98bhp. The car will be offered in both the manual as well as automatic transmission gearbox.
Tata Bolt
The Tata Motors is lining up a lot of new cars for India to boost its sales. The Indian auto major is soon going to launch the much awaited Bolt hatchback, which was called as the Falcon 4. The car is expected to hit India before September, just before the festive season in India starts which is the best time to launch any new car.
The Tata Bolt will be based on the totally refurbished X1 platform, the Bolt hatchback boasts of a new signature company grille with a great bold design. On the inside, the Bolt will be getting several world class features including the all new HARMAN infotainment system, large 5 inch touchscreen display for the entertainment system, first in class HVAC with touch screen controls as well as many other features.
Under the hood, the new Tata Bolt is powered by a new 1.2L Revotron petrol mill that generates 83bhp of power and 140Nm of peak torque.
