The MPV market capacity in India is storming towards grandeur and efficiency, the latest menace is Honda Mobilio. It is a recent launch, so much is written about the car months before launch. The surprise triggers are it is the first MPV product from Honda’s stable, and the first time rage is huge. It is a replication of the sheen value of other Honda products and this time in a much bigger package. Nissan too is up the game with its classic Datsun Go+, let’s compare the vehicles and figure out which one to pick.
Exteriors:
Mobilio got the public insane with its stunning looks, the first sight of attraction lies in smiley shaped radiator grille, surrounded by solid chrome treatment on which is company logo. The headlights are moulded into neat curvy structures filled with potent halogen lights. The side view is great; the C and B pillars are layered with shiny black layer. The most loaded V car has fifteen inch alloy wheels and the base vehicles have 15 inch steel wheels. Mobilio looks trendy from the rear; the tailgate arrangement is classy packed with huge chrome inserts. Mobilio on the whole looks majestic with arty cuts and ridges on the side and front.
Datsun Go Plus sports a classic fashion statement, the side and front ridges and lines are superbly executed. The classiness of the rear lies in creative flow of swept back taillight arrangement stuffed with turn indicators and high intensity lights. The side view is stunning; with body colour door handles and the exterior wing mirror with C and B pillars are painted with professional black shade.
Interiors:
The layout of Mobilio is similar to Brio and Amaze, the dashboard is covered with a heavenly black layer garnished with shiny silver inserts. The fitments are top notch with world class music system and robust air con unit. The three spoke steering wheel looks classic with shiny silver inserts. The driver’s seat can be electrically adjusted with 60:40 split capacity. The cabin room is vastly spacious and there are ample storage spots in the form of sun visors, interior rear view mirror, bottle holder, cup holder and huge glove box. The car is loaded with 42 liters fuel and boot capacity is 521 litres.
The inside of Datsun Go Plus is vibrant, it is compact from the outside and the insides paint a different story. There is ample room to sit comfortable and stretch your legs. There is ample room in second compartment; the third row is however congested. The features to watch out for are jacquard fabric seat covering, passenger side storage tray, door armrest, bottle holders, door map pockets, interior room lamps and silver painted air con.
Engine:
Mobilio is equipped with a robust iVTEC 1.5 litre petrol engine that churns 145Nm and 118bhp. The diesel vehicle runs on an efficient i-DTEC 1.5 litre mill engineered with the advanced DOHC technology. It generates 200Nm and 98.6bhp. The car offers spark 24.3kmpl mileage which is fantastic for a MPV. Datsun Go Plus manoeuvres on a robust petrol 1.2 litre engine it is packed with oodles of energy and generates 104Nm and 67bhp. The fuel efficiency value of the vehicle is an admirable 17to 19 kmpl.
Mobilio and Datsun Go Plus are valuable purchases, Mobilio costs Rs 6.8 to 11.3 lakhs and the latter is priced at Rs 5 lakhs. Mobilio is the better pick in terms of interior room, mileage and engine options.
