Honda Jazz came into the Indian market and it received mixed responses. While people loved the styling and features of the car, they didn’t like its price and the fact that it was offered without a diesel engine option. Indian market loves diesel engines and a premium hatchback without a diesel engine option was destined to be a failure. On top of that, it wasn’t priced much lower than the Honda City. Anyone looking at the Jazz would simply add some more money and get the bigger and powerful Honda City. Honda tried to fix things by cutting the prices but that didn’t work very well either.

Now the Jazz is coming back for its second innings. The impressive hatchback would come in an even impressive package this time. It is being sold as Honda Fit in some markets and has got a design which has evolved from the previous model. This new car will be priced competitively this time so that it can give a tough competition to its rivals. They would place this car just below the Amaze. This time, it would also be offered with a diesel engine which would be the same as Amaze.

The exterior design of this car is more impressive as it follows a more aggressive design scheme. The front face has got a grille with a fat bar flowing across it. The nose and the hood flow nicely into each other and the creases give it a neat look. The overall profile looks similar to the previous model. On the rear you would find redesigned tail lamps that extend into the side of the car. This new car is expected to be longer than the previous model by a couple of centimetres. The wheelbase would also be extended a bit which should help with interior space.

The interior space wasn’t bad earlier. In fact the car was very spacious on the inside and thus things would be even better inside the new car. Honda is really good at the job of packing the interiors and this one won’t be any exception. The equipment level would be decent although not as good as the Fit being sold in some markets. The previous Jazz had a large boot and due to the larger dimension, this one will have an even bigger one.

Unlike the last time, there will be a diesel engine on offer this time. The diesel engine would be the same 1.5 litre i-DTEC unit that runs under the hood of Amaze, City and Mobilio. This engine generates a peak power of 100 bhp. We might see this engine generating lower amount of power in favour of efficiency. Though we won’t want that as a 100 bhp hatchback would be really fun to drive. The petrol engine would be the same 1.2 litre i-VTEC unit that we saw on the previous Jazz. Soon we might also see the introduction of Honda Vezel which would be a compact SUV based on the Honda Jazz.
