Japanese car giant Honda Motors is very bullish with its new bold cars like that of the upcoming Civic Type R, as the car maker seems to have vowed to wow the global auto enthusiasts. However, the super cool Civic Type R is based on the European model and is not yet scheduled to make its appearance in the car market of the U.S. Thus, the very bold car from Honda is not much of a consolation for the American car enthusiasts. Nevertheless, the Honda car fanatics in the U.S finally have some reason to rejoice.
According to the reports of a Spanish auto portal, the Japanese car major is also busy working on a U.S version of the cool Civic Type R. However, it is not the mindboggling design of the Type R that is going to be offered to the U.S car buyers. Honda is going to make available the Type R’s powerful 2 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine to the U.S market. This potent oil burner from under the hood of the Honda Civic Type R is reportedly capable of produce between 276 and 320 hp of maximum power output and of course amazing torque figures as well. The U.S auto enthusiasts are also expecting Honda to offer an upgraded suspension system, rolling stock as well as other parts apart from the Type R to grace the U.S Civic. That would definitely be a more comprehensive and more exciting package.
The only part which remains mysterious is the design language of this new U.S spec Honda Civic, nor is it clear which body type it will attain. It is said that the new Civic for the U.S will have different styling that the European based Type R. At present, Honda sales the Civic sedan or coupe in the U.S market and not the hatchback or wagon body type as in the other markets. So, Honda could offer a sedan version with an added boot of the hatchback version in the U.S market which will receive all the upgrades. The American auto enthusiasts surely hope that the Japanese car major will offer a better and more comprehensive upgrade than that of the presently available Honda Civic Si.
Other speculations say that Honda America may offer this motor in a facelift version of the Honda CR-Z hybrid as well, which has been longing for a more powerful engine for long now. Then again, Honda could choose to offer both the engine options along with the new turbocharged VTEC mill.
After testing many prototypes for the enhanced performance oriented versions for both the Civic sedan as well as the CR-Z hybrid at the company’s R&D center in its home market Japan for more than a year, Honda is surely going to offer some superb high performance new versions for both these cars in the U.S car market. The auto enthusiasts and Honda car lovers in U.S are certainly keeping their fingers crossed.
