Honda Cars India started its wonderful success run in the Indian car market quiet recently with the launch of the Amaze compact sedan. The Amaze was launched in April 2013, which marked an overnight turnaround in the company’s fortunes in India. The Amaze was the answer to the long awaited diesel car model from Honda India. While Honda India did delay a lot to introduce its first diesel car in India, it actually did it with a bang with the brilliant Amaze that also became the most fuel efficient diesel car in the entire country before Honda launched the al new City.
Needless to say, that the Honda Amaze became an instant hit and the car has recently crossed the sales milestone of 1 lakh. It is still enjoying good demand despite growing market competition and the introduction of two new rivals, the Hyundai Xcent and the Tata Zest, apart from the all time segment leader Maruti Dzire.
Honda Cars India is expecting the demand for the Amaze compact sedan to go up in the upcoming festive season of India and the Japanese car manufacturer wishes to cater to this greater demand by maximizing the production for the Amaze in the next few months.
The Honda Amaze was initially manufactured only at the Honda India’s production facility situated in Greater Noida. After the company’s second car plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan got operational in this year February, Honda started manufacturing the Amaze at this facility as well to meet the high demands and to slash the waiting period of the car. Honda will now boost the Amaze’s production in the current month to ensure that the car gets delivered to the consumers on time, which should also boost its demands.
The Amaze certainly has been an amazing game changer for Honda Cars India, and the Amaze also went ahead to become the fastest vehicle to cross the 1 lakh sales mark in the company’s history. With the Amaze, Honda India got the much needed confidence back to boost its sales in the domestic car market, and has been ever since leaping forward with the introduction of more and more diesel car models.
The Honda Amaze is also the first car to challenge the sole segment ruler Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire. It is available in India in both the petrol and diesel versions, both of which are very popular. The Amaze petrol is run by a 1.2 liter petrol motor, while the diesel version is powered by the highly acclaimed 1.5 liter diesel mill.
The senior vice-president of sales and marketing at Honda Cars India, Mr. Jnaneswar Sen said that with the onset of the Indian festive season, the company has tried to maximize the production of the Honda Amaze in August in order to speed up the car’s deliveries.
Honda Cars India also launched a special edition Amaze packed with added features in April this year, to commemorate the compact sedan’s first birthday.
