Honda Cars India has made its rightly expected hat-trick with the new Mobilio’s launch in India. The new Mobilio is the company’s straight third highly successful model in India. The new Mobilio MPV is Honda’s first venture in the Indian MPV market, and it is already a superb hit. With the Mobilio’s launch thus, Honda Cars India is continuing its envied high success and fast growth rate.
The Japanese car major’s Indian wing, Honda Cars India launched its latest new product in the form of the Mobilio MPV on 23rd of July, 2014. The Mobilio has gone ahead garnering an outstanding 20,000 bookings within just two months of its market launch in India. In fact, the new Mobilio MPV has become such a big instant hit that it has already overtaken the sales of the compact MPV segment leader Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The Honda Mobilio’s primary market rival in India is the Maruti Ertiga MPV, and it has overtaken the monthly sales of the Ertiga in August by selling 5,530 units in that month.
The Mobilio’s sales numbers accounted for nearly a third of Honda Cars India’s domestic sales in the month of August, 2014. The Mobilio’s demands are on the rise and Honda India is definitely not able to cope up with it at the moment. The high demands for the Mobilio MPV have also forced the Japanese car major to relocate production of its high selling City’s to the company’s new manufacturing facility in Tapukara, Rajasthan. The all new fourth generation Honda City is the C-segment leader in the Indian car market, after it outshone the sales numbers of the previous segment ruler, the Hyundai Verna Fluidic.
The Mobilio is the third consecutive high successful product from the house of Honda in India. Honda Cars India which was struggling with falling sales a couple of years back made an outstanding turn around with its first diesel model in India, the Amaze compact sedan which launched in April last year. After the Amaze’s great success, Honda India launched the all new City sedan in January this year, which also became an instant hit. The Mobilio’s high success is also expected to be followed by many other upcoming Honda launches including the all new 2014 Jazz.
The new Honda Mobilio is tagged at between Rs. 6.49 lakhs to Rs. 11.54 lakhs (ex-Showroom, Delhi) and is offered in both petrol and diesel guises. The Mobilio petrol is driven by a 1.5 liter i-VTEC petrol engine that generates 119 PS of max power and 145 Nm of peak torque. The diesel Mobilio is powered by a 1.5 liter diesel mill generating 100 PS and 200 Nm. Both the engines are mated to 5 speed manual transmission gearboxes.
The Mobilio offers the petrol fuel efficiency of 17.3 kmpl, while its diesel avatar offers a class best mileage of 24.2 kmpl.
Honda Cars India is expected to launch the new generation Jazz hatchback in March 2015, also in both petrol and diesel versions.
