Civic Type R Concept

Besides a magnificent design, the Civic type R car will under series of development. A pioneering team of engineers is working on developing the swiftest front wheel drive car, and is testing it in the acclaimed Nurburgring ring. It is a huge hallmark to engineer the fastest two wheel drive Civic, Renault takes the centre stage at present, with its potent Megane RS 275 Trophy-R, the car zooms through a distance of a lap within 7 minutes and 54.3 seconds.

The new Civic Type R is going to be a ripper on the streets, powered by the advanced 2.0 liter i-VTEC petrol engine. It is a fiery power train engineered using Honda’s futuristic Earth Dreams Technology. The company has not yet given a power figure, and sources predict something over 276bhp, since the engine is constructed to generate 300bhp. The expected torque range is 41.5kgm within a 2000rpm capacity, Honda has confessed about its plan to generate 7000rpm out of the 2.0 liter i-VTEC engine. The firm will carry on with the same value timing technology, but this time it is aiming to achieve lower vibrations from turbocharger. According to project head Suehiro Hasshi, the engine rhythm of Civic Type R is immensely forceful and not a patch on Accord, Integra and Civic.

Honda is also incorporating new transmission technologies into the car; the company has done away with the usual dual-clutch automatic gearbox and instead plans to use a standard six-speed manual gearbox. The vision here is to increase the driving convenience factor, to create superior drive enjoyment. The six-speed manual transmission is totally driver friendly, driver’s can even move from the fifth to the third gear during sharp turns. The acceleration power is splendid it takes below six seconds to on a time range of 0-100kph.

Apart from the improved engine technology and transmission, the new Civic Type R is engineered with the innovative four-point Adaptive Damper System a selling proposition of the car. The damper is designed on the patterns of offering optimum convenience during normal drive conditions. It can be monitored according to driver’s preference; it can be condensed when required. Honda has used an interesting phrase for the change of dampers called ‘high-performance handling.’ The system is designed to minimize torque variation; the company has inserted a ‘steer axis mechanical system on front suspension that is held together by a couple of kingpins that aids in reduced torque steer subject to acceleration rhythm.

There is an R+ button next to steering that elevates engine responsiveness, and adjusts torque output to balance power. The developments on Civic Type R sounds ground-shattering, reports suggest that an Indian launch is plausible; Honda has not yet provided a confirmation on introducing Civic in India.
