Featuring one of the oldest design languages in its own segment, the Honda CR-V needed a makeover for some time. The new 2015 Honda CR-V though, is not an all-new model but just a refresh gets a very good comprehensive makeover as an answer. The Japanese car major has done a good job with the new CR-V, and has given the car more than the mid-cycle refresh. The new CR-V is not a mere mild cosmetic update, but covers almost all the aspects including exterior styling, interior updates and features, powertrain and even chassis. Moreover, Honda has also included a suite of sophisticated driver-assist as well as crash-deterring technologies in the form of the adaptive cruise control and active lane-keeping assist system.

Under the hood, the new 2015 Honda CR-V gets powered by a new direct-injection 2.4-litre 4-cylinder engine which is mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The engine generates the same power output as before at 185hp but offers 11 percent more torque, while the CVT also offers greater acceleration and fuel efficiency. Honda has also endowed a tweaked suspension and enhanced noise isolation in the new CR-V completing the overall changes.

The LX FWD is definitely more expensive than base models, but it also comes with added goodies such as a reverse camera, heated door mirrors, seat heaters and Bluetooth streaming. Then the range goes on to the more sophisticated models of LX AWD, SE, EX, and EX-L. The SE gets nice features of updated audio with touchscreen, push-button start and aluminum wheels.

Honda has also made considerable chassis alterations which are aimed at enhancing the ride and refinement and it has really achieved the intended goal without compromising on the SUV’s handling part. The new Honda CR-V offers a neat and very stable handling though it might not offer a very playful and more engaging drive like some of its global market rivals.

The new Honda CR-V poses a great buy as it is a true Honda vehicle with superior quiet comfort, practical and flexible seating arrangement, new added standard features like rear A.C vents, a sliding centre-console armrest, extending sun visors and power tail gate.

The new Honda CR-V gets a re-design front bumper, wider wheels and gets even sharper and distinctive look on the exterior. On the inside, it comes with 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat. Honda offers a comprehensive suite of new driver-assist technologies on the new CR-V on the top of the range Touring variant, but not on the lower model trims.

The new powertrain of the CR-V does compare very well with the entry level engines of its market rivals, but is not an answer to the powerful engine options of CR-V’s rivals.

The CR-V offers great cargo space with smart seating arrangements like flip-up cushion or fold down backrest.

The new Honda CR-V might not be the sportiest or the most affordable in its segment, but its sheer class with a fine blend of space, comfort and refinement makes it a great buy.
