So many novel automobile engineering theories have been discovered over the past decade. Honda is among the pioneers to develop new systems, apart from the FCV eco-friendly hydrogen fuel cell concept vehicle, the company has built a high-end safety technology unit called (ITS) Intelligent Traffic Systems, and the drive is to reduce congestion and improve road safety.

Steeping out on the road in a car is pleasurable and stressful at the same time, because of the jam packed traffic roads and reckless driving. The traffic blacking scenario is so rampant that the distance between each vehicle is only an inch and Honda’s ITS system is the need of the hour.

Three countries have signed a ‘Communicating Cars tour agreement’ in 2013 which is Austria, Germany and Netherlands. The goal here is to build a full-fledged integrated intelligent traffic control system on an unimaginably vast stretch of land that extends to 1300km, through the three nations and the technology used is called the vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure system commonly referred to as V2X.

Honda is incorporated the V2X system into five cars in the popular Civic Tourer and CR-V vehicles, and the original point of journey is from Vienna and Frankfurt, and through the voyage the V2X technology will be demonstrated to the public, the final part of the tour was held on the 19th of November in Helmond and present among the crowd was an esteemed dignitary, the Dutch Minister of Traffic and other government officials. A conference was held to recapitulate the gist of the initiative and discuss feasible theories of improving road safety with many other esteemed automotive groups and firms.

It is interesting to learn of Honda’s unique strategy of practically analysing different methodologies to improve safety. The communicating cars tours is an excellent venture is visually view what is happening in the real world, and the on-field research was conducted by the established NSX semiconductors, who provided all the software requirements to drive the research such as hardware and software security and chipsets. The esteemed firm Siemens was also a partner in the venture and was recruited to supply traffic lights, road obstacles with V2X radio sensors and road signs.

The goal behind the research was to determine the effectiveness of V2X technology to aid in mass safety enhancement, during challenging circumstances where people are surrounded by demanding situations. The initiative is to visualise the power of the technology in the real world, and the beneficial outcome is through the direct communication with built in V2X vehicles as well as intelligent infrastructure drivers are warned of the potential hazards and also road conditions, road works, oncoming ambulances and areas jam packed with traffic. V2X cars gather signals of the approaching traffic lights before the driver ventures into the area.

A video of V2X technology is on the web and it gives pristine information of the process of the technology and how it signals driver of the potential danger that lies ahead and also of the oncoming road and traffic conditions. It is a must watch video to actually get a glimpse of the vast improvement in automobile technology that will take you into the future.
