Honda Cars India has been having a whale of a time ever since it launched its first diesel car India, the Amaze compact sedan in April 2013. This year has been very successful for the Japanese car maker, as its all new City sedan as well as the Mobilio MPV have received runaway success. After a very profitable 2014, Honda Cars India is now getting ready to launch the all new Jazz premium hatchback in 2015.
The new generation Honda Jazz that is already selling successfully in the international car markets was showcased at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show in February. Though the all new Jazz hatchback was expected to launch at the end of this year, it will finally launch in 2015. As per the reports, the new-gen Jazz will hit the Indian market during the March-April period of the next year.
Like all the new car models from Honda, the all new Jazz premium hatchback will also be launched in both petrol and diesel versions in India. The new-gen Jazz will mark the brand’s resurrection in India, as the older Jazz got discontinued last year owning to its poor sales.
Honda India has recently begun a new production shift at its second manufacturing plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan. It has been speculated that the all new Jazz will soon be entering the production line at the Tapukara plant. Unlike the previous Jazz, Honda will be pricing the new Jazz competitively owing to its high localization to keep the production cost on check. The previous Jazz’s market failure was primary because of its high price and lack of a diesel variant, both of which will be resolved by the company this time.
After its launches in India, the new Honda Jazz premium hatchback will be rivaling the models such as the new Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Elite i20, and Volkswagen Polo. The all new Jazz is developed on an entirely new platform and flaunts a new more attractive design language. The premium hatchback’s interior materials and features that were already impressive have been also enhanced to offer great comfort, convenience and style.
Under the hood, the all new Honda Jazz premium hatchback will be equipped with the 1.2 liter i-VTEC petrol engine and the acclaimed 1.5 liter i-DTEC diesel mill. The petrol motor is capable of generating a max power of 87bhp and a peak torque of 109Nm, the diesel mill is good to offer a max power 99bhp and peak torque of 200Nm. The Honda Jazz is also expected to be the most fuel efficient premium hatchback in its own segment in India owing to its 1.5 liter i-DTEC diesel motor.
Honda Cars India is also likely to launch the sportier variant RS after launching the all new Jazz which will be equipped only with the 1.5 liter i-VTEC motor. The generated power will be transmitted to front wheels of the hatchback through a 5 speed manual gearbox, while the petrol engine will also get the option of an automatic transmission.
