The most speculated car from the house of Honda in the Indian auto market is definitely the recently launched Amaze sedan. The car, as was expected is an instant hit in the Indian terrain. In fact, the new Honda sedan became a super success even before it actually hit the market. The success of the Amaze is certainly a huge achievement for the Japanese car maker, and presently it is reveling in the awesome sales figures that the compact sedan is drawing for its maker.
Honda indeed needed a new model that could turn around the sales charts for the company. Before the launch of the Amaze sedan last month, Honda’s product portfolio for the Indian car market consisted of only petrol exclusive models. As India shifted its favor towards the diesel driven cars, Honda sales figures considerably dropped. Thus, the Japanese car maker finally thought of introducing a diesel model in India, which came in the form of the Amaze that actually rescued the overall situation of Honda.
This sedan model which also comes in a petrol avatar apart from a diesel one, also boasts of the highest fuel economy (diesel model) in the country and thus it has totally impressed the Indian audience. Needless to say, Honda can thrive in India only based on the Amaze sales, as the new entrant has already outshone all its siblings combined together, when sales are concerned.
The first and the most important fact that this compact sedan is enjoying, is that it is the first ever diesel offering from Honda India. Moreover, as it is below four meters in length it also enjoys the excise duty benefits that the company could transform into very competitive pricing for the car.
The Honda Amaze compact sedan comes powered by a very powerful 1.5 liter i-DTEC Earth Dreams diesel oil burner that delivers an awesome power output of 100PS and 200 Nm. Not to mention its matchless mileage of whopping 25.8 Kmpl, which ARAI has already approved. These mind-boggling aspects make the Honda Amaze really amazing.
On its launch month itself, Honda sold 8,488 units of vehicles in India, among which 4,852 were the Amaze units. This makes Amaze form about 57% of the total car sales figures of Honda in India. Because of the introduction of Amaze, Honda also experiences around 20% jump in its overall sales than the preceding month.
However, Honda is currently suffering a production limitation that might also limit the sales boost. The Amaze’ popular trims are already carrying a waiting period of over four months. The huge demands for the Amaze could slaughter the production capacity of other popular Honda cars such as City and Amaze’s hatchback sibling Brio.
Honda is in the process of constructing a new manufacturing facility at its Tapukara factory in Rajasthan to pump up its production by the year 2014. As of now, Honda is really busy pumping up its production in order to cater to the huge demands for Amaze and to keep up the production of its other cars.
