New Honda Jade MPV gets spied sans camouflages in China

As all the leading Japanese auto makers are presently eager to draw the attention of the car consumers of the Chinese car market, Honda is busy working on the production versions of the concepts that it showcased at this year’s Shanghai Auto show. Honda had showcased several cars to be produced especially keeping the Chinese car market in mind which is the world’s most happening auto market.

Honda had also unveiled a near-production concept of the Honda Jade compact MPV at the 2013 Shanghai Auto show. Now, the fully finished production version of the Honda Jade has been spotted in China. What is more interesting is that the car was spied without being masked by any camouflages.

Honda had first unveiled the Jade MPV concept at the Beijing Motor Show in 2012, that time it was known as the Honda Concept S. The Honda Jade is developed on the platform of the third generation model of Honda Stream that is also a quality compact MPV.

The completed production version of the Honda Jade that was caught by a sneaking camera reveals that the vehicle has remained absolutely true to the pre-production car concept unveiled at this year’s Shanghai Auto show.  The Honda Jade is a truly stunning vehicle that would surely manage to entice the Chinese car consumers by its looks. Honda being a car maker that is known for swanky car designs and luxurious car features along with superior quality may well be confident about the success of its Jade MPV. This mini MPV in its un-camouflaged avatar showed that it is endowed with balanced proportions along with a low slung exterior design.

The Honda Jade is a China car market centric car and will be manufactured by the joint venture of Dongfeng and Honda. The compact MPV measures 4,645mm in length, 1,775mm in width and 1,500mm in height, along with a wheelbase of 2,760mm.

As per the Japanese car maker, the Jade’s fully finished production version will be 99 percent akin to the showcased car concept. Honda has kept its words and that is clearly visible from the obtained the spy pictures of the Honda Jade.

The Honda Jade MPV will be offered to the Chinese auto market with two engine options, namely a 1.8 liter motor that is capable of producing maximum power of 140bhp and a 2.0 liter oil burner that delivers a maximum power output of 170bhp.

According to the reports and speculations, the Honda Jade may also come up with a hybrid variant that would most probably join the Jade lineup at a later stage after the MPV version hits the Chinese car market.

The experts of the auto industry hold the view that though the Jade is a China specific model, it will be a good thing for Honda if it contemplates to replace its aging brand of Stream with the Jade in the other international auto markets. The Honda Jade is expected to hit the market with a starting price of 150,000 Yuan (about Rs. 13.63 lakhs).
