Besides Honda, Chevrolet will also supply aero components to Indycar race units. Chris Berube, the Chevy Program Manager, stated, that it is a unique moment to supple aero kits and power plants.

Motor racing has become a sport of enormous talent and skill, the fitment of aero units in Indycar race models, will increase the aerodynamic properties of cars, resulting in a smoother ride encounter. Roger Griffiths, the Technical Director of HPD said, aero units are another chapter in latest innovations in automobile technology.

Chevrolet and Honda will engineer aero components with bespoke body work technology. This technique will enhance brand value and also increase the engine power of Indy race cars.

The Inycar sanction body has stated that aero components should be inserted in end plate, front over main wing, engine cover and sidepods.  The governing body is also strategizing methods to alter the under tray component of DW12, to introduce more room for safety. The quality assurance testing methods will commence from the 6th of October 2013 till the 18th of January 2015.

Indycar santion body has formulated certain regulations for aero cars, which is the number of aero kits should be restricted to 2. Aero kits like Dallara obtained in 2012, will be taken as a single unit. The reputed Italian chassis maker, Dallara Automobili plans to continue to roll out standardized units that would improve aerodynamic performances.

For Indianapolis five hundred mile event, the driver can experiment with over 1 aero kits during training sessions. Aero equipments used in qualifying rounds, can be inserted into cars used for actual race events. The cost of single aero unit will not go beyond $75,000, and this will be inclusive of components but not fasteners. For 2016 race events the fully developed kit will not go beyond $ 15,000.

The aero kits will have to undergo a pre production test for 6 days; the testing procedure will have to include a couple of cars for every test procedure. The insertion of aero components in cars will enable racers to encounter a smoother drive experience. These equipments are tailored in a way to elevate the light weighted effect of the car. The kits are engineered in a way to improve traction, and deliver lesser range of drag movements.

Motor racing is a prestigious sport today; automobile engineers are tailoring cars to improve the aerodynamic properties. Aero components are beneficial safety equipments as well, that reduced the drag movement of vehicles, and hence it also minimizes tire strains.

It would be interesting aero components are used in Indian race cars; this will give race aspirants an edge to churn their dreams into reality. Indian’s are fascinated with motor racing, and this is a fast moving sport in India.
