After the launch of the compact sedan Amaze, Honda Cars India never looked back. The introduction of the company’s first diesel model (Amaze) in India, proved to be a divine boon for the Japanese car major in the country and it came out as an invincible victor even in the worst phase of market slump.
Continuing in its journey of astral success, Honda Cars India has again posted great positive sales growth in December, 2013, while most of its rivals have posted negative or marginal sales growth in the last month of 2013. Honda India has registered 30 percent sales growth in the month of December, 2013 as compared against the same month a year ago. The Japanese car major sold 5,493 vehicles in the month of December as compared against the sale of 4,242 vehicles in the same month of the year 2012.
Honda Cars India has also posted an overall growth of 66 percent in the time period of April to December 2013. The company managed to sale a total of 85,656 vehicles between the months of April and December, 2013 as compared against the sale of 51,478 vehicles during the same period in the year ago. This is again clearly indicative of the company’s fortune turning event that took place with the launch of the Amaze compact sedan in the month of April, 2013.
The Amaze’s launch definitely made Honda India a star performer, when most of the other car makers operating in India spend the year 2013 struggling to handle the market slowdown and putting several efforts to preserve market shares. The Honda Amaze has emerged as one of the fastest selling Indian car within a short period of its launch and both its petrol and diesel variants are in high demand with waiting period attached to them. Honda India has also started a third shift in its production facility to increase the production capacity of the Amaze in order to cater to the growing demand and reduce the waiting period.
While speaking on the company’s sales performance, the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Honda India, Mr. Jnaneswar Sen said that the previous year of 2013 had been a very rewarding year for the company, as Honda cars India achieved the sales milestone of 1 lakh units in the domestic market for the very first time in a calendar year along with the total sales of 107,661 vehicles in the time period of January to Dec, 2013. The all new 2014 Honda City has also got an outstanding response post its global preview in the month of November, 2013. The company is looking forward to the market launch of the all new City and is expecting to keep up the growth momentum in this New Year.
The all new fourth generation Honda City is expected to be the company’s next game changer and is expected to draw greater sales volumes for the Japanese car maker.
