The new Honda City is a huge launch, evident with the reports of its new in international markets of Brazil and now Australia. Honda has introduced the Australian spec new City in the form of completely built units from Thailand. The country will get only petrol spec car, and is more reasonable than earlier model by 500 AUD. The car is sold in four versions apart from manual transmission, and the MT variant is attached to 5 speed manual gearbox, and the price structure is AUD 15,990 and when converted to Indian rupees it is Rs 9 lakhs. The CVT variant is sold at AUD 22,390 or Rs 12.68 lakhs in India.
The car will move on 1.5 liter petrol power train, and the Indian spec model is tailored with the same engine capacity. The engine yields enormous energies of 145Nm and 118 hp. There is a 1.5 liter gasoline engine that renders a class performing mileage of 17.54 in one liter of travel. The wheelbase dimension is 50mm, and is a pathway to a voluminous cabin, and the boot capacity is 536 liters, that can carry loads of baggage.
The new City is not just a progression of the earlier mode, but a revolutionary one, draped with the advanced ‘Exciting H design technology’. As innovative as the design are the interior fitments such as touch screen infotainment system with the cutting-edge Siri Eyes Free voice control feature, and reverse guide camera. The top end version of the car is sold with Modulo body equipment that has a rear spoiler, side skirt, sportier grille and back under spoiler.
Honda launched the 2014 City in early 2014, and has built the diesel engine to meet the daily life requirements of Indian demographic. The mileage offered by Indian spec car is class defining 26 kmpl, reliable to cover vast distances on a daily basis. By the mere appeal and features, it was expected that the new City will be a grand success, and it is, Honda Cars India has sold about 9,518 pieces of the car in March. The demand for the car is unbearably high to an extent that Honda Cars India has built a new unit in Tapukara Rajasthan, and the company is now eyeing a favorable Gujarat plant.
It is the new City that has enabled Honda to yield a massive 83% profit along with Honda Amaze. The whole world is bearing the harsh impacts of recession, and despite the grave economic scenario that has haunted many countries at the macro level, the new Honda City will always be a head turner and fortune cookie. The Australian spec car will maneuver on petrol engine, and here too the mileage is pretty impressive at 18kmpl, and a boon for Australian citizens to travel to work comfortably without having to worry about petrol costs every hour.
