Japanese car maker is introducing its much awaited Mobilio MPV during July end and has started displaying the models at various shopping malls and other public places to develop interest and buzz around the brand. Dealers of Honda have already started accepting bookings for Mobilio in all domestic markets at a down-payment of Rs.50000. Though people are not allowed to test drive the car its roadshows at city centers aims to give people a clear view of its structure and feel since this is a first time model. Company officials have not stated any details about its price range, features, built in accessories or variants therefore that part of excitement still awaits eager buyers which will be revealed after official launch.
The Honda Mobilio will be launched with petrol and diesel engine options and with both manual and automatic transmission setup to meet changing demands of customers. According to company sources Honda will be bring in the Mobilio with powertrains of Honda City therefore the diesel variant will have 1.5 liter i-DTEC engine with 100 PS and 200 NM torque while the petrol variant has 1.5 liter i-VTEC engine with 119 PS followed by 145 Nm of torque. With wide bodied rear the Mobilio has an artistically designed side profile and will compete against Toyota Innova and Maruti’s popular MPV Ertiga. The 7 seater MPV car is already gaining popularity in Indonesia since launch last month, and since it is based on Brio platform with three well spaced rows it is likely to do well in India too.
The dealers have been asked to rank customers on basis of first come first served basis so loyal customers are not disappointed. Mobilio model sold in Indonesia will be slightly longer and will be placed on wheelbase of 2650mm measuring 4386 mm in height and 1683 in width. Mobilio’s both power trains are fuel efficient as they have mileage of 20 – 24 kmpl and is ideal for both family travel and for use by tour operators. An interesting feature of Mobilio is its front fascia which is similar to Brio and Amaze with wide chrome slab before radiator grille holding Honda logo. While its oval shaped headlamp cluster has side indicator and projector lamp built together, its ORVM’s are also fitted with side blinkers.
To increase premium image of this car in India, Honda may present the Mobilio Modulo kit which contains high end accessories in India too like Indonesia. The kit contains various trims for enhancing looks of car’s interiors and making it more sport and elegant. Some of its attachments like grille door, tail lamp design, and door handle and roof spoiler are available at various price ranges depending on customer interest. The Mobilio is being manufactured in India at Rajasthan and is likely to be exported from here to other locations in Asia too depending on demand. Honda is all set to increase its portfolio of products across a wide spectrum of segments to avoid being slotted as a maker of entry level or only mid segment cars.
