Honda Cars India is now very busy preparing for the imminent launch and the pre-launch campaigning for its new Mobilio MPV. The Japanese car major has released a new set of pictures of the much awaited MPV on its official website, drawing more attention and suggesting that the car enthusiasts’ long wait for the Mobilio’s arrival is about to end soon.
The Mobilio MPV is the highly anticipated and talked about vehicle, as it is expected to be the third consecutive huge hit from Honda in India after the Amaze and the new City. This first Honda MPV has been speculated for an India launch for a long time now, especially after its launch in January in Indonesia, where it is highly successful and beating the Ertiga’s sales numbers. Honda India had earlier said that the Indian car buyers would be able to get their hands on the Mobilio from July, this year.
In the meantime as a promotional activity, Honda is also going to put its Mobilio on display at the most popular malls in India for the prospective buyers to take a closer look at it before its official market launch. Similar to the Ford EcoSport, the Honda Mobilio will also be displayed for the public across the country very soon.
Honda Cars India first showcased the Mobilio in India at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The Mobilio is built on the popular Brio hatchback’s platform like the Amaze and it will also be offered in both the petrol and diesel versions in India.
The Honda Mobilio’s petrol version will be powered by the 1.5 liter i-VTEC petrol engine that drives the new City and delivers a max power of 117bhp. The diesel avatar of the Mobilio will be driven by Honda’s star diesel mill 1.5 liter i-DTEC, which got the Amaze and City the astral success and generates a max power of 98bhp. The engines will come coupled with a 5-speed standard manual gearbox, while the petrol mill will also get a CVT automatic transmission. The Mobilio diesel is expected to offer the fuel efficiency of 26 km per liter, while the petrol version is expected to provide 18 km per liter.
The initial production of the Mobilio has started at Honda’s Greater Noida factory earlier in May, while this month the actual production will commence. The Mobilio MPV will be fighting against the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Nissan Evalia and Chevrolet Enjoy in India.
Honda is expected to tag its first MPV in India within the price bracket of Rs. 6 lakh and Rs. 8.50 lakh. Honda Cars India is also expected to commence the pre-launch bookings for the Mobilio MPV by the end of this month.
Prior to its launch, the Mobilio is already speculated to be exported to the neighboring countries such as Nepal from India. However, sources say that Honda’s primary focus would be to launch the product in India and see that it gets the right market appreciation.
