Honda is developing an Acura electric car and it is called the NSX based Acura Electric EV concept. The company will showcase this concept at the prestigious 2016 Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb under the Electric Modified Class segment. The NSX based Acura Electric EV concept is a futuristic invention, a progression of the pioneering all-electric (SH-AWD) four-motor super handling all-wheel drive engine that was chosen as the top pick in 2015 Pikes Peak Challenge Exhibition class.
Driving over mountainous terrain requires tremendous skill, and the Pikes Peak Hill Climb is among the most challenging mountain events. There has been some wonderful talent, with participants driving trucks, cars, fast-paced two wheelers and so on. Honda is determined to feature unexplored world-class technology in Hill Climb event with the Acura Electric EV Concept.
It is intriguing and exhilarating to read about the Honda’s vision to develop the Acura Electric EV concept, and what is the theory behind the engineering of the electric vehicle. The car is engineered on the same Honda NSX chassis, but the principle behind the construction varies. Here instead of a potent 3.5 liter turbocharged engine, there is a four motor system that is independently connected to each wheel and this latest engineering development is called ‘Super Handling All-Wheel Drive.
The goal behind the formation of the Super Handling All Wheel Drive concept is it moves on torque vectoring technology that enables the EV concept to have a firmer grip around the corners facilitating the vehicle to move on any kind of harsh mountainous terrain. The car will be driven by acclaimed racer Yetsuva Yamano, and he has expertise with driving electric sports car, and last year he drove the CR-Z electric sports car and he ended up winning the challenge.
As mentioned earlier, it requires great amount of skill and energy to drive along a mountainous terrain and the Pikes Peak Hill climb is a super challenging event. It is extremely stimulating where participants will have to maneuver along the most difficult terrains through many turns and twists of the Pikes Peak in USA city of Colorado. An important point to remember is the Pikes Peak Hill Climb is a tedious race that requires loads of skill, any kind of mistake can cost the driver with a negative point. For those who are interested to know, how tough the race is, participants will have to drive along a magnificent 156 turns on narrow road and will have to cruise through the finish line which is the top most point of a mountain, that is above sea level by 14,115 feet.
The Acura electric EV concept will be engineered to effectively move along rugged and narrow mountain terrains, Honda is engineering the car with the highly ground-breaking torque vectoring technology that will enable a greater grip around the corners, and the driver will be able to effectively drive the car along narrow roads. The Acura electric EV concept is a spectacular innovation. Honda has not only engineered a revolutionary electric car, but an electric car with torque vectoring technology that allows firm grip around corners on mountain roads.
