Honda Motor has been launching great new cars in the global car market lately, and has quite a few more up its sleeves. The Japanese luxury car brand is making its new cars not only stunningly eye candies but also incredibly efficient.
To empower its new cars with enhanced power and efficiency, Honda has come up with a family of brand new turbocharged engines. The Japanese car major has announced the launch of the newly developed line-up of turbocharged VTEC engines. This all new family of engines comprises of a 1 liter, 1.5 liter as well as a 2 liter engine which will be featured under the hoods of Honda’s new compact and medium sized cars soon enough.
The all new compact 1 liter engine has a configuration of 3 cylinders and features direct injection turbocharged system. This new engine will have the capacity to deliver a good amount of maximum power output of 125bhp and a peak torque of 200Nm. The efficient compact engine will be responsible for providing power to the latest generation 2014 generation Jazz hatchback, the upcoming all new 2014 City sedan, the Mobilio MPV and the upcoming compact SUV. So this small and efficient engine will be doing the duty under the hood of most of Honda’s new vehicles.
The next in line, is the new 1.5 liter oil burner, with 4 cylinders. This one has the capability of churning out a robust maximum power output of 201bhp and a peak torque value of 260Nm. This one is expected to make its debut in the new Honda Civic and the entry level model of Honda Accord.
The mechanical specifications and power values of the largest of this new engine range, 2 liter motor is yet unknown. However, it is definitely going to be much more powerful than that of its other two smaller counterparts and is certainly built to deliver outstanding on-road performance.
Honda’s Indian wing, Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) is about to bring in a whole new array of new cars in the Indian market starting with the all new 2014 City sedan, that is about to be unveiled in India on 25th of the current month. Soon after, as the year 2014 begins, the Indian car market is expecting to receive the 2014 Jazz hatchback and the Mobilio MPV as well, following which the compact SUV will also arrive in sometime. Considering the new range of cars that Honda has in store for the Indian audience, the 1.0 liter engine is the most interesting mill, as it is expected to power all the mentioned new Honda models.
While the ongoing Honda cars in India are not going to receive this new engine, all the upcoming new cars from the house of Honda, such as the all new City, the next-gen Jazz and Mobilio will be powered by 1.0 liter mill in the next few months’ time. It is being speculated that Honda might even consider using the same engine in the Brio hatchback, but without the turbocharger.
