Honda Cars India had been rampaging on positive sales growth for the good part of 2013, when its other rivals in India have been struggling to handle the tough market situation. Post the outstanding Amaze attack, the Japanese luxury car major is all set to sweep over the Indian auto industry by bombarding great new vehicles.

Honda has already revealed its wish to emerge as the top auto brand in India, and it is ensuring that it keeps on gaining on market shares with the introduction of overwhelming cars. While the Amaze has kept the sale growth graph on a continuous high, Honda has started its plans to rule the Indian market and unveiled the all new City in November, 2013. Nevertheless, this car will be followed by a slew of new Honda cars to ensure a constant and growing grip on the Indian car market.

In the run up to the launch of the new 2014 Honda City, the company is still tight-lipped about the pricing of the new car. However, company sources reveal that the new Honda City will be aggressively priced, just like the carmaker had done with the Amaze last year.

Soon after its unveiling, the new fourth generation Honda City has been generating great numbers of pre-bookings foretelling its huge success in India. However, the Japanese car major has been keeping a strict mum, when it comes to the iconic sedan’s new pricing. Honda has changed its strategy for the Indian car market when pricing is concerned and this has worked wonders in India. Beginning with the affordably priced popular Brio hatchback, the aggressive pricing of the Amaze compact sedan as ensured its astral success. Given to this fact, it is expected that Japanese car maker will be following the same pricing strategy for the all new City as well. However, the City is much more premium as compared to the Amaze, so how far Honda will be able to keep its pricing competitive remains to be seen.

Moreover, while the Amaze has only the Maruti Suzuki Dzire as its major competition, the City has many including the complete value for money package and segment leader Hyundai Verna. Thus, Honda needs to aggressively price the all new City in order to make it a tough competitor. The Honda City used to be the bestselling model before the Hyundai Verna, and Honda wishes to get back the lost glory for this sedan.

As per the earlier reports, the all new City could cost around Rs. 30,000 more than that of the Hyundai Verna. However, now it is expected that Honda will be pricing it more competitively with a marginal price difference with the Verna.

Honda Cars India is also concentrating on maximum localization of car components along with cost cutting measures for the new City to reduce its manufacturing costs and thus keep its price very competitive.

The all-new Honda City is set to launch on 7th of January.
