Honda Cars India is flying high with sky rocketing success with massive growth rates even in the slumped down domestic market. Encouraged by the sudden turn of fortunes, Honda is now aiming for the top spot in India. In order to compete with the top two leading car majors in India Maruti and Hyundai, Honda has thus set to enhance its footprint in India. Honda Cars is not only expanding in India in terms of product line and new production facilities, but is also planning to reinforce its sales and service network across the country.
The Japanese premium car maker is reportedly busy strengthening its sales and service network in India which is to happen within the current financial year. Fate has been very kind to Honda Cars India in the previous 2013-14 fiscal, which gave a hard time to most of the other auto makers in India who were handling slowed demands. Honda managed to sell a remarkable 1,34,339 vehicles in the last fiscal that accounted for a sales growth of 83 percent as against the previous financial year. In this current fiscal, the auto giant has all intentions to improve the figures even further and grab as much market share as possible. In order to speed up growth, Honda knows that it has to reach out its potential customers, and thus it is working on the expansion of its network in the country.
The company is surely working very aggressively to expand its sales and service network, as its sales and marketing director, Mr. Jnaneswar Sen revealed that Honda India is aiming to have a total of 230 dealership outlets in 150 Indian cities by the end of this fiscal that ends in March 2015. Honda Cars India has a network of 170 dealerships in 107 Indian cities at present.
Sen further revealed to the media that the company is gearing up for further demand growth. According to him, Honda is preparing itself for the sales of not only of Amaze compact sedan and the new City sedan that are drawing great sales figures at present, but also for the upcoming launches, namely the Mobilio MPV and the new Jazz. These two upcoming Honda cars are also expected to be launched in India within this fiscal and hence, the requirement of the network expansion.
Very soon, Honda India is planning to open 3 new dealership oulets in the north-east region of India, namely Itanagar, Dimapur and Imphal, which is scheduled to happen within few months of time.
Honda has also commenced operations at its new Tapukara car plant in Rajasthan, currently only producing the Amaze and later to produce the new Jazz. Honda is also contemplating to set up a new plant in Gujarat.
The turn of fortunes for Honda India has been fascinating, as the company struggled till 2012-2013 fiscal due to lack of diesel offerings and high pricing. Everything changed in April 2013 with the launch of Amaze though, and now it seems there’s no stopping Honda from growing big.
