The highly awaited Honda Civic Type R on which the world’s car enthusiasts have been drooling on is still quite away from market launch. As per the reports, the Honda Civic Type R is not hitting the markets for at least a year or so. Thus, the sporty car crazy lot will have to just satisfy them with the various spy pictures and details of the Civic Type R that constantly do the rounds on the internet. And, the spy cameramen are always eager to offer more such pictures to fire up the interest even more.
The Honda Civic Type R has been already spied quite a few times and has wowed the audience with the glimpse of that gorgeous rear design of the car. Now, the car has been yet again spotted by the spy shutterbugs while the car was busy testing on the roads, albeit with heavy camouflages in place. Nevertheless, the new pictures of the Civic Type R have given out some important details of this hot new car from the stable of Honda.
The new set of spy pictures has been captured in Europe and it shows many early test prototype models of the turbocharged Honda Civic Type R, which will be the first Type R to officially launch in the U.S car market.
As these spy shots show the early testing mules, the stunning production headlights are nowhere to be spotted on these cars. In the place of the Civic Type R production headlights, these prototype models are seen putting the first generation Acura ILX head lamps on duty. Other parts such as the front radiator grille as well as the front bumper are also borrowed from the first-gen Acura.
At the rear of this spotted 5 door hatchback, wrap around taillights can be seen that are similar to the standard Civic concept model and are also expected on the new generation Civic when it gets unveiled on 16th of September.
At the rear bottom of the spotted Type R, there can be seen three center mounted tailpipes which are jutting out of the camouflages. These make the car’s performance oriented nature clear. It can also be noted that Honda has endowed high-performance, low profile tires around the car’s wheel rims.
Honda has not yet officially revealed any details regarding the next Type R but it is expected to get close to what it has now in the other markets.
The vehicle gets powered by a 2 liter 4 cylinder, turbocharged engine which is good to make 306 hp of power and 295 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6 speed manual transmission.
The upcoming new Civic Type R will be sitting right at the top of the new generation Civic lineup which will be unveiled next week. Apart from the all new Civic sedan which will be unveiled on 16th September, Honda is also planning to launch a coupe, an Si version, and a hatchback model of the Civic for the U.S. market, before the Civic Type R finally arrives.
