Honda, the Japanese auto manufacturer has launched its much awaited luxurious hatchback model, Honda Jazz in India on June 2009. Jazz is the first small car in Honda’s product portfolio in India. If Honda Jazz could be defined in a single sentence, then one must say that Honda Jazz is a luxurious small car which is equipped with all the luxurious features of a luxurious C-segment luxury sedan which makes it a price wise high end model. On the other hand, M&M, who is famous for manufacturing SUVs for Indian car market has launched Mahindra Quanto, a small version MPV with features of Mahindra Xylo. It is the first ever sub-four meter MPV in the country.

Honda Jazz, being a small hatchback car has a length of 3900mm and a width of 1695mm. It has a ground clearance of 160 mm. On the other hand, Mahindra Quanto, the mini MPV has a length of 3985mm, a width of 1850 mm and a ground clearance of 180 mm. Honda Jazz has a boot space of 384 litres while that of Quanto is 690 litres. The difference in the exterior dimensions of this car is not much as we can see even when one lies in the hatchback segment and the other lies in the mini SUV segment.

Even being a hatchback, Honda Jazz has a luxurious and roomy interior. It offers enough leg space, generous head space enough even for a 6ft tall person and decent shoulder space in the rear as well as in the front. Provision of multipurpose storage facilities is also there in the car. Honda Jazz is the first hatchback car in the Indian car market which is equipped with a feature like the ‘Magic Seats’ which makes the car ultra-spacious. The rear seats have been placed a bit higher than the front one for better view of the rear passenger.

On the other hand, like any other SUV, Quanto is a seven seater sedan. The interior of Quanto can be termed as the mini version of the Xylo’s interior. The second row of Quanto is also the copy of the Xylo but has not met with the comfort that is provided by the Xylo. But the leg room are quite generous as compared to the sub-four metre car. The backrests of the seats do not recline which results in an upright seating stance. The jump seats at the back also barely have any space. The seating position is strictly upright and is very difficult for long journeys.

Whereas on the other hand Honda Jazz being a hatchback car is much more spacious than any other hatchback of its class and from the above comparison shows that it can even take on a mini SUV in terms of space. Honda jazz has got everything in it pure luxury, comfort and space. Quanto being an mini SUV lacked in some fields with the Jazz. Jazz performs extremely well in both highways and roadways and one can surely say that it is a no worry car.
