Honda Cars India is still riding on the success of its amazing Amaze compact sedan to register astounding sales figures in the month of August, 2013.This great sales rate even during the slowdown of the Indian auto industry can be primarily credited to the latest Honda launch of the Amaze compact sedan, which was introduced to the Indian car market in the month of April, this year.
Honda cars India managed to sell a total sales of 9,469 units in the month of August out of which the Amaze sales accounts to 6,242 units. Honda India’s fortunes were turned overnight, when finally after a long delay the Japanese car major decided to launch its first diesel model offering in India with a competitive price range in the form of the Amaze compact sedan. Honda was not so hot selling in India, but ever since the launch of the Amaze the company is constantly posting very positive sales growth. Honda cars India had previous announced the sales growth of 65 percent in the period between the months of April and July, as compared against to the corresponding period in the year 2012.
In the previous week, the Japanese luxury car brand also recorded the sales mark of 30,000 units for the Amaze sedan in India. This is a huge success for Honda India, as this sales benchmark in such a less time period, has made the Amaze the fastest selling car in India to have achieved this milestone.
Honda Cars India has been selling around 5,500 of the Amaze cars on an average per month, ever since the car’s launch in the month of April. The very popular car has a long waiting period attached to it at present. Honda has already announced that it is going to boost the production capacity of the Amaze by including a third shift of work at its Greater Noida car factory from this November. The company wishes to keep its valued customers happy by reduce the Amaze’s waiting period down to 2 to 3 months from the present 4 to 5 months. Honda had backlog of more than 20,000 units of Amaze in end July.
As far as the total sales of Honda India for the month of August is concerned, the Honda City sedan sold 953 units, while the popular Brio hatchback sold 1,508 units. On the other hand, the Honda Accord premium sedan sold 62 units and the sales of the Honda CR-V was recorded at 148 units. The company also exported a total of 556 units during August 2013.
Speaking on the sales success, the senior vice president of marketing and sales at Honda Cars India, Jnaneswar Sen said that the company’s overall sales in August 2013 have been very hearty. Honda has also tried to boost the production of the Amaze in August to speed up deliveries.
