Honda is geared to launch Mobilio MPV, the due launch date is round the corner, on the 23rd of July. Bookings are open; those who want the earliest piece can book their vehicle now. The company has detailed the public on the types of variants on offer, there are two variants on conventional and the other is a modern filled with layers of posh wood inserts and audio visual navigation package.
The audio visual navigation package will come with fog lights, plush leather seats, faux wood trim and touchscreen audio system. The touchscreen unit in shigh-tech with so many systems packed into one; there is a video and audio system, reverse camera screen, and navigation. The entire apparatus sounds thrilling; the sad part is Honda has decided not to launch the AVT variant. The AVT trim with all its components will not come to showrooms.
For those who are disappointed, all the components of AVT trim will be sold as an optional package. Customers can have it styled according to their liking, and will be sold on RS Mobilio car. It will be sold three months post the launch of the regular Mobilio vehicle. Honda has also done away with the beige plastic option, all the vehicles will arrive with a vibrant beige and black décor. The loaded vehicles will have a world class 2-Din music apparatus also seen in Brio and Amaze.
Mobilio is a big launch; it is Honda’s first project in MPV segment for Indian markets. The public is just thrilled by the launch, it comes as a disappointment that Honda has decided to not introduce AVN package at the production state, customers can still have access to the touch screen unit, which will come as an option on RS car. Consumers can fit the touchscreen on RS car and decorate it which every way they want. It is fun to design your own car; the all beige plastic is also taken away. Honda has decided to substitute it with black and beige material which is also fascinating.
Honda has worked around the cost factor to a great level in the past evident with the stellar successes of Amaze and all new City. The company might have a similar cost reducing strategy with Mobilio, and it might be the reason to opt out of AVN package, and offer it an as option on RS.
Even with the company deciding to take away the desirable ANN package at the last minute, the excitement surrounding the vehicle will never fade away. The thrill lies with the size, and there is nothing more exciting that a vastly spacious vehicle sold at a valuable starting price of Rs 6 lakhs. Honda launched Mobilio in Indonesia and it is doing pretty well there. A similar trend can be expected in India because of the similar strong family bonding system.
Mobilio is a threat to the current line of big vehicles; its fiercest rivals are Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova. It will surely be the next head turner and an addition to Honda’s successful models. It will be interesting to view the profit value and competition level of the car.
