Honda is one of the most loved foreign car brands in India. All of its cars have been extremely popular in their respective segments. Be it the city and civic sedans, the high end accord or even the small cars like the brio and jazz. Honda is a word beater in terms of quality and reliability. Another car from Honda’s portfolio is the might SUV, the C-RV. When the C-RV first came, it spread like a forest fire into the minds of the Indian car enthusiasts with the help of its stellar looks, ability to go anywhere and best in class cabin comfort.
It’s been a long time since a new face lifted or upgraded version of the C-RV to be seen and with the current launches if SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner and now the upcoming SsangYong Rexton, Honda’s sales have certainly taken a dip. Another major factor contributing to this dip might be the lack of a diesel engine in Honda’s arsenal which is present in all other rivals. It is then, high time Honda came up with something new in the SUV market and a diesel motor is a must requirement.
There is some news for cheer to the Honda fans in India as a new SUV from Honda has been repeatedly spotted in greater Noida doing test rounds. The SUV, most likely the new C-RV comes as a pleasant surprise because the frequency of these tests suggests that it may soon be on its way to the Indian customer. The new vehicle looks very different from its predecessor. It looked more of the look of a Fortuner. As spotted by an onlooker, he described the car to have fantastic road presence in terms of its size and ride height. The exteriors looked more chunky and broad than the current C-RV. The chassis might also be longer, suggesting better space in the cabin and enhanced ability to go off-road. The onlooker also told that the vehicle looked very stable at high speeds, without any unnecessary sways and had a very good pick-up. He also went on to add that as soon as the driver spotted pictures being taken of the vehicle, he speed away and vanished into the horizon. This scenario itself adds to the performance critique of the vehicle.
In petrol, it would most likely be powered by the same engine that powers the current C-RV. A 184 PS producing monster is to power this beast to high speeds and unthinkable roots. The petrol engine is a 2.4 litre. But, the much awaited and welcomed news would be the addition of the 2.2 litre diesel which powers the current C-RV running in Europe. The diesel might be able to provide a huge boost to the sales charts of Honda and could make the new C-RV a segment leader.
Another interesting thing to notice about the new C-RV would be how Honda prices its largest vehicle. They would like to price it under the Rs.20 lakh mark, in order to keep it competitive in the market.
